The Press Conference of China International Big Data Industry Expo 2021 was Held in Beijing

On the morning of April 22, the press conference of China International Big Data Industry Expo 2021 (referred to as “Big Data Expo 2021”) was held in Beijing. With the approval of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, the Big Data Expo 2021 will be held in Guiyang from May 26 to 28 this year.

It is reported that the Big Data Expo 2021 will be jointly organized by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Internet Information office and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province. It is supported by the Ministry of Commerce, and is co-presented by relevant departments of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the State Internet Information office, the Institutes of Science and Development of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Internet Society of China, the Beijing Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the Guiyang Municipal People’s Government, the Management Committee of Gui’an New District, and the Big Data Development Administration of Guizhou Province.

With the overarching theme of “Data Creates Value, Innovation Drives the Future”, the specific annual theme will be “Embrace Digital Intelligence, Deliver New Development”. The Big Data Expo 2021 will integrate online and offline participation, featuring “One Forum, One Exhibition, One Expo Release, Contests, and Related Activities”.

Among them, “One Forum” refers to the opening and closing ceremonies, including 6 high-end dialogues and 10 professional forums. State leaders will be invited to attend the opening ceremony and deliver important speeches, and keynote speeches will be delivered by internationally renowned award winners, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering as well as famous entrepreneurs. The themes for high-end dialogue are “Data Security”, “5G-enabled Intelligent Digital Transformation”, “Industrial Internet-enabled Industrial Digital Transformation”, “Global Digital Trade Services”, “Big Data Facilitating Rural Revitalization”, and “Scenario Big Data”. The themes of professional forums include “Digital Government Building and Governance Modernization”, “The 5th International Conference on Big Data Science and Engineering”, and “The 3rd Location-based Service Technology Forum”.

The “One Exhibition” refers to the “Digital Expo Exhibition”. Four themed areas, including the Comprehensive Exhibition Area for Multinationals, the Frontier Technology Exhibition Area, the Digital Applications Exhibition Area, and the Smart Industry Exhibition Area have been established to display new technologies, products, solutions, and applications in big data. Nearly 200 exhibitors have confirmed their participation, including Huawei, Baidu, Tencent, JD, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, 360, Inspur, Lenovo, QI-ANXIN, Toshiba Electronics, Quantum, and Panasonic, etc. In addition, we have also set up a special exhibition area for the National Big Data (Guizhou) Comprehensive Experimental Zone to showcase the latest achievements of Guizhou big data companies such as EsgynDB and RepChain.

“One Expo Release” refers to the “Digital Expo Release”. With the selection of the “Digital Expo Leading Science and Technology Achievement Award” as the carrier, the most cutting-edge, disruptive, influential, and innovative “black technology”, “new products”, “new technologies”, and “business models” in the world are solicited and released. At present, enterprises, universities, and scientific research institutions have declared and released nearly 600 projects such as Huawei, Tencent, Baidu, iFlytek, BEKE, AMAP, Xiaomi, QI-ANXIN, 360, Tsinghua University, and Nanjing University.

The “Contest and Series of Events” aim to create an authoritative big data industry contest, and the “Industrial APP Innovation Contest” and the “Guiyang Big Data and Network Security Elite Contest” will be conducted. At the same time, a series of activities such as the “Big Data Expo Investment Conference”, and events about industrial investment fair, talent recruitment fair and big data experience tour will be planned. Big data-related events during the Expo will be held by institutions such as the Secretariat of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Consulate General of Israel in Chengdu, and Jeollabuk-do of South Korea.

The Big Data Expo 2021 will be a large-scale international exchange event in big data in the post-pandemic era. It will adhere to the concept of “global vision, national interests, industry roles, and corporate responsibilities”, and strive to meet the requirements on details, meticulous planning, and pursuit of perfection to present the Big Data Expo 2021 with high standards, distinct features and rewarding results.

The Big Data Expo will focus on platform innovation and integrate both offline and online events. Given the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the “Big Data Expo 2021 Cloud Network Platform” will be established based on the successful experience of the “Never-ending Big Data Expo--Global Communication Campaign 2020”. The platform will feature online promotion, online exhibitions, business negotiations, online forums, and guest demonstrations to achieve a new exhibition model of “infinite possibilities of offline + online”.

Big Data Expo 2021 will make concerted efforts for opening-up and cooperation, and to discuss development with stakeholders in the government, academic institutions, and enterprises. During the Expo, famous domestic and international experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, leaders of research institutions, and embassies and consulates in China will be invited to discuss the latest theoretical results, cutting-edge technologies, and development directions of big data through online or on-site participation to provide more solutions with Chinese wisdom and for the development of big data in the world.

The Big Data Expo 2021 will focus on economic empowerment and pool resources for a future with shared benefits. During the expo, events such as digital investment promotion, digital promotion, and digital transaction will be held to build a platform for investors and financing companies, vigorously promote the in-depth integration of big data with various industries, especially the real economy sectors, and facilitate participating companies to share opportunities, deepen cooperation and achieve win-win development.

With support from the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and under the guidance of relevant state ministries and commissions, the Big Data Expo has gradually developed into an international event full of opportunities for cooperation, leading the development of the industry, and a world-class platform that discusses development plans and shares the latest achievements. It has not only created opportunities and pooled resources for the development of big data in Guizhou Province, but also contributed Chinese wisdom and provided Chinese solutions to the development of big data in the world.

As the core areas of the National Big Data (Guizhou) Comprehensive Pilot Area, Guiyang City and Gui’an New District have always made pioneering explorations in big data development to the wonderful “leapfrog development” from “getting started from scratch”, “settling for development” to “gathering into momentum”. In 2020, Guiyang City and Gui’an New District boasted more than 5,000 big data companies, among which 117 big data companies are above designated size. The added value of the digital economy reached 164.9 billion yuan, accounting for 38.2% of the regional GDP. The deep integration development level index of big data and the real economy reached 51.1.
